“Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.”

Steve Jobs said that speaking about how successful Apple products and their culture have become during one of their new iPhone events. Like clockwork, we have seen Apple take the stage every year. Similarly, Dell PowerEdge servers have followed a highly collaborative roadmap with joint design and architecture between Intel, Nvidia, AMD, Broadcom, and Dell EMC for each Next-Generation PowerEdge Server. Nearly every 2 years there have been new generation releases, with the most recent being Generation 16 PowerEdge Servers in May.

This year brings big changes to PowerEdge in that instead of just being bigger and faster performing, Dell has incorporated AI and more sustainability design elements into PowerEdge 16G than ever before.

Zettabytes and Machine Intelligence

Statista estimates that the global datasphere, which is the volume of data created, captured, copied, and consumed worldwide, is currently 25 zettabytes (1 zettabyte would need 1 billion 1 terabyte storage drives). By 2025, it is estimated we’ll be creating more than 2X or 51 zettabytes of data! Therefore, machine intelligence is a required element in server design due to the amount of data we are generating and need to analyze to gain information from it.

Dell and Nvidia have been working on a new type of computer well-suited for the Information Overload Age, and it begins with Generation 16 PowerEdge. Jensen Huang, Co-founder, President, and CEO of Nvidia, says of next-gen servers, “We will have co-pilots so we can be more efficient, more productive and get things done much faster.” To accomplish this, Nvidia and Dell had to redesign the whole stack with a new architecture, system software, and AI algorithms and make it easy for customers to purchase and implement.

Sustainability for a Better Computing Future

Secondly, more computing power normally means more electrical power. To support the growing demand for high-performance computing resources, Dell partners with Intel and AMD to increase the performance per watt. This move towards efficiency and sustainability is part of the Dell strategy for a better computing future. They integrate smart cooling and enable customers to monitor and manage their carbon footprint with greenhouse gas tracking. Dell is taking this seriously by creating an Office of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) within their organization to gauge outcomes versus their moonshot goals. They boast of leading all tech companies with over 500 EnergyStar certifications.

Customized to Meet Your Needs

PowerEdge servers come in a wide range of form factors and configuration options, from 1, 2 or 4 socket Intel or AMD processor options and from tower to 1U to 5U rack density sizes to accommodate peripheral expansion and workload application. In addition to the highly customizable products, Dell offers their pre-configured Tailor Made options for guaranteed shipping within 10 days.
